The Ekiti police command public relations officer, Sunday Abutu, said the police received a report from the hotel workers and immediately moved to the scene.

As Abutu settles into his new role, he is expected to bring his wealth of experience and knowledge to bear on the government’s policies and programs, and to work closely with other officials to drive development in the state.

Abutu added that the police and other security have begun serious stop and search along the route to ascertain the identities of commuters.

A statement on Sunday by Mr Sunday Abutu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, on behalf of Mr Tunde Mobayo, the Police Commissioner, confirmed that properties worth millions of naira were damaged by some youths during the attack.

Confirming the release of the Chinese engineer, Mr Abutu, said the rescue was made possible after a serious manhunt launched on the kidnappers by security operatives.

The lawmaker said this in Lokoja while reacting to the recent arrest and subsequent parade of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Security Chief, ACP Suleiman Ejeh Abutu (rtd) and six others for illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions.
