Adventurousness

While it’s true that certain qualities, such as kindness or adventurousness, are generally considered to be attractive, experiments on speed-daters suggest that people’s preferences tend to matter very little in their face-to-face interactions.

But his adventurousness at the Philharmonic — guided, no doubt, by Deborah Borda, the orchestra’s tirelessly innovative chief executive — has been the most welcome surprise of his time in New York.

But solo doesn’t mean simple for Tweedy, since he has taken the troubadour’s guitar/vocal approach and twisted it to his suit the adventurousness he favors with his day-job band.

Chef/owner Max MacKissock and executive chef/owner Blake Edmunds have worked on numerous projects together, but Señor Bear is the purest distillation of their intelligence and adventurousness.

Perhaps most familiarly, his adventurousness manifests itself as a notably original sense of modulation, as in the second movement of the String Quintet (D. 956) where he modulates from E major through F minor, to reach the tonic key of E major.
