BAFTA noted that Irish actors Colin Farrell ("The Banshees of Inisherin") and Paul Mescal ("Aftersun") were among the heavily-featured first-time nominees in the performance categories this year.

It comes after Mescal was nominated for his first-ever Academy Award for best actor, for his role in the film Aftersun.

It was recently announced that Indiyah will host the Love Island podcast alongside Sam Thompson, and will be an Aftersun panellist alongside new show host Maya Jama.

Mescal received a nomination for Best Actor at the Oscars in March for his performance in "Aftersun" and has landed the lead role in the sequel to Ridley Scott's "Gladiator", which he is currently filming.

Aftersun is airing Sunday nights after the Love Island episode.

Aftersun tells the story of Calum and his daughter Sophie as they take a vacation together, but from the perspective of the adult daughter looking back at the trip and realizing exactly what was going on with her father.

He has racked up credits in Aftersun, Foe and All of Us Strangers, and told that though he misses his anonymity, he wouldn't trade in his Hollywood career for anything.

The authenticity of the locations in Aftersun was important to Charlotte Wells because the movie draws from her childhood memories.

As well as her presenting duties on the ITV2 show, Laura is also hosting spin-off show Aftersun every Monday in London, as well as her BBC Radio 5 Live show every Sunday morning.

The show will return on Monday evening as planned but Monday's Aftersun has been cancelled in the wake of the tragic news.
