Akinci

Ali Bizden, adviser to former Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, said on Saturday that he and his family were under intense pressure from Turkey, during the time leadership changed in the north in 2020.

Ms Akinci is hoping the Australian people will "open their hearts" and help those suffering in Turkey and Syria.

The announcement follows an agreement in July to sell the Bayraktar Akinci, another kind of drone, to Saudi Arabia in what Baykar described as the biggest defence contract in Turkey’s history.

Addressing his supporters, Akinci spoke of “unheard of” interference in the election.

Akinci, a strong supporter of a federal accord with Greek Cypriots and a champion of Turkish Cypriots who oppose Turkey’s complete dominion over their affairs, denounced the move as a “stain” on democracy and a direct bid to meddle in the election.

Akinci, he said, had merely conveyed the suggestion of sharing resources prior to a solution to the Cyprus problem to the Greek Cypriot side; an idea formulated by the Foreign Ministry.

He handed down multiple life sentences to disgruntled air force pilots who bombed the capital Ankara and civilians who orchestrated the coup attempt from inside the Akinci military base near the capital.

Thursday’s trial revolves around events at the Akinci air force base near Ankara.

Akinci added that Cavusoglu agreed on the necessity of political equality, and that a basic prerequisite for the resumption of talks is that they are not open-ended.

Anastasiades had offered to share potentially lucrative energy revenues with Turkish-Cypriots but that wasn’t enough for Akinci and Erdogan who said they want their side to also take part in the licensing and have a bigger role in the process.

In July, President Akinci had proposed that a joint committee be established to manage the hydrocarbon issue, to the benefit of both communities.

Tatar added that Turkey and the TRNC government had asked Akinci to adjust his position to encompass alternatives to federation.

Therefore, he said, the statements made by Cavusoglu during the speech he gave at Kyrenia American University, could not possibly be in reference to him (Akinci).

The statement came after the east Mediterranean island nation’s Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci held private talks for nearly four hours at a compound inside a U.N. protected area.

According to a press release issued by the President’s Office, Akinci and Verwey discussed during the meeting, the Turkish Cypriot community ties with the EU and the current phase of the Cyprus problem.

Akinci said without joint decision-making it would mean either two separate states or a unitary state and the ongoing effort was for neither.

Akinci, who took courage from the verbal reference by Cavusoglu and made a call on Anastasiades saying ‘come and let us accept the Guterres Framework and sign it’, receives one blow after the other from Ankara.

Cavusolglu, according to Arikli, said “we must also discuss a two-state solution and confederation,” but Akinci voiced his disagreement.

Erhurman stated that they briefed Akinci about what they had discussed with Turkish officials in Ankara especially on the Cyprus problem and the hydrocarbon issue.
