Bahadorifar was not charged with any involvement in the plot to kidnap Ms. Alinejad because she had no knowledge that it would occur; instead she made a $670 payment to an investigator at the behest of an old family friend.

In the absence of a bipartisan commitment to aiding Iranian dissent, the U.S. government has offered Alinejad little more than photo ops with the national security adviser and the secretary of state.

Iran Daily cited a document from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards as saying that NED used its ties with Masih Alinejad to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs during the hijab protests.

The murder-for-hire plot also targeted prominent Brooklyn journalist and vocal Tehran-critic, Masih Alinejad.

The plot against Ms. Alinejad, an Iranian American writer, was just the latest that U.S. authorities had disrupted against her.

For example, reporter Masih Alinejad attempted to enlist the help of Angelina Jolie with a series of tweets on Tabar’s situation.

Masih Alinejad, a reporter took to social media and said that the teen's mother was severely distraught over the sentence as her young daughter had landed up in jail for just a joke.

Earlier this year Ms Alinejad met with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who “thanked her for her bravery and continued dedication to the cause of freedom for Iranian women”.

Activists and TV journalist, Masih Alinejad, posted the video on Twitter to highlight the hostility towards women who ditch the veil in Iran.
