AlloyDB’s cross-region replication feature, according to the company, will allow enterprises to create secondary clusters and instances from a primary cluster to make the resources available in different regions.

Google said AlloyDB Omni supports existing PostgreSQL applications as it uses standard PostgreSQL drivers.

Rather than just being focused on transactional workloads — which is what PostgreSQL supports by default — AlloyDB also has capabilities to support analytics workloads.
