Guwahati, May 18 (IANS) Assam Police have seized narcotic substances in Karbi Anglong district and arrested one person on the charges of drug peddling, officials said on Saturday.

He said that illicit taxation in Karbi Anglong is a significant problem for transporters and informed that the meeting also discussed the syndicate system, which is harming both businesses and the public.

In a horrifying incident that has shaken the Karbi community, a 31-year-old man from Kakojan village under the Duarbagori constituency in Assam’s Karbi Anglong was brutally murdered by unidentified miscreants.

The workshop was organised during June 27-28 at the Community Resource Centre, Chandrasing Rongpi Memorial High School, Chandrasing Rongpi of Kaziranga-Karbi Anglong landscape in Assam.

The Kaziranga National Park workers sold pieces of the horn to local buyers from Golaghat or Karbi Anglong, a tribal district on the periphery of the national park, according to national park officials.

It went on to say that the exercise was carried out on the directive of PHQ, Kohima and coordinated by the office of commissioner of police, Dimapur and superintendent of police, Karbi Anglong, Assam.

In similar incidents, two people were thrashed in Gujarat’s Dwarka district while two youths were lynched in Karbi Anglong district of Assam on suspicion of being child-lifters.
