Colombo, Sep 23 (UNI) Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has resigned from his post, following the election of Anura Kumara Dissanayake as the new President and a new government set to take over.

In 2021 the NPP women’s organization presented Anura Kumara Dissanayke, the NPP’s presidential candidate, its freshly prepared women’s charter/policy paper draft in which the women were asking for 50 percent of nominations for women candidates.

Regardless of whether Anura Dissanayake becomes president on September 21 or not, after this election Sri Lankan politics hardly would be the same.
