Babafemi said that 18 hectares of cannabis farm was destroyed on June 12 in Umuchime village, Ogume, Ndokwa West LGA in Delta by NDLEA operatives supported by soldiers.

A statement by the spokesman of the anti-narcotics agency, Femi Babafemi on Sunday said Oguejiofor was arrested last Monday while attempting to smuggle out of the airport the illicit drug concealed in six backpacks and then packed into two big suitcases.

Babafemi also said a total of eight suspects were arrested with different illicit drugs on September 6 in Kaduna State.

Babafemi said that the 36-year-old Nosike was arrested at the early hours of Thursday, August 8, at the old domestic terminal of the Lagos airport.

Babafemi said that the interception came in another intelligence-led operation on Saturday.

Babafemi said that the two seizures followed earlier intelligence which made the agency request a 100 per cent examination of the shipment.

Babafemi said the NDLEA officers at the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, (MMIA) Lagos on Friday, Sept. 6, intercepted a cargo going to the UK.

Babafemi said the NDLEA’s strategy includes lectures and workshops in schools, faith-based centres, markets, and motor parks to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.

Media officer of the team, Babafemi Raji, told our correspondent that both players were not part of the team’s second training session in Abidjan on Thursday.

Mr Babafemi said that he was arrested along with five of his associates at the Ago Palace Way in Okota, Isolo, Lagos.
