While two tigers were detected in Bannerghatta National Park, which is located in close proximity to Bengaluru, in last year’s tiger census, the NTCA said that the park faces threat due to high tourism.

According to the Bannerghatta Nature Conservation Trust, the state government had sought a reduction of over 30% of the ESZ area at an Expert Committee meeting of the MOEF&CC in February 2017.

Centre has issued a notification that reduces the eco-sensitive zone around Bannerghatta National Park by 100 sq km.

There are four ranges in the national park, namely, Anekal, Bannerghatta, Harohalli and Kodihalli wildlife ranges, the website noted.
