In a welcome address, the Commissioner for Transport, Grace Ekiotene, appreciated the governor for inaugurating the scheme to cushion the effect of the hardship faced by Bayelsans as a result of the subsidy removal.

Dambo said the approval reflected the governor’s commitment to the education of Bayelsans and would cushion the effect of current economic hardship on the students.

He said, “The approval is a reflection of the Governor, Senator Douye Diri’s commitment to the education of Bayelsans.

Bayelsa State Governor-elect, Chief David Lyon has lauded Bayelsans for their overwhelming support during the last governorship election.

Egbe who last week threw his weight behind Bayelsa State boxers with the donation of kits said he wants Bayelsans to vote for a governor who loves the youths, even as he insisted that Lyon has over the years been a youth friendly person.

Elder stateswoman, Lady Anne Yougha, speaking on behalf of Bayelsa Central zone said Bayelsans are tired of living in darkness.

He said as the election is just 11 days away, there was need for Bayelsans to vote right for the sake of the future of the state and that of the children.

He said: “The activities of INEC have not given confidence to Bayelsans.

I am coming to serve Bayelsans and not for them to serve me as it is the case today.

Part of the statement read: “I am extremely pleased with the way Bayelsans demonstrated overwhelming support for David Lyon.

The state commissioner of police is behaving like a PDP card-carrying member but we are going to let him know that we are Bayelsans and we cannot be intimidated.

Cleopas said that the PDP remained the party of Bayelsans and was ready to participate in a free, fair and credible election.

The commissioner challenged Lokpobiri to inform Bayelsans of the number of projects he had attracted to the state as minister whose party was in control of government at the national level.

The statement urged Bayelsans to take advantage of the mobile numbers to report flood cases and also support government’s effort by keeping their immediate environment clean and open up drains within their vicinity.

While enumerating all the decisions reached at the meeting, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the commissioner for Information and Orientation, said Bayelsans should appreciate the efforts of the government and show more support so it could do more for them.
