As a result, we endorse Hon Muktar Ahmed Betara for the Speakership of the 10th Assembly.

Betara, from Borno State, was seated beside another former front-runner for Speaker, Yusuf Gagdi, from Plateau State.

Betara, who gave the charge through a statement issued by his Media Office, applauded the members-elect for their resolve to serve their respective Constituents in the next democratic dispensation.

It further read, “Aspirants for Speaker such as Muktar Betara, Gagdi, Miriam, Sada Soli were present.

Leader of the delegation, Ismail Dabo (APC/Bauchi), said in part, “We are new members-elect from different political parties and irrespective of our party affiliations, we have resolved to suport Mukhtar Betara Aliyu.

The aspirants led by Ahmed Idris-Wase, the Deputy Speaker and Muktar Betara, the chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, specifically kicked against the party’s choice of Tajudeen Abbas for the office.

Yusuf Gagdi, Muktar Betara, and Tajudeen Abbas were the early birds to indicate interest in the office, only for them to pull out for Abbas, who was undoubtedly the preferred choice for the Presidency.
