Blessers

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Mr Sihle Zikalala has blamed the phenomenon of "Blessers" for the continued rise in the HIV infection rate in KwaZulu-Natal, while praising progress being made in the fight against the pandemic.

It’s a big business…you can even find sugar daddy dating sites and apps for blessers and blessees – a misnomer if I ever heard of one.

MEC Dhlomo said that research has shown that older men who have had years of sexual experience the so-called Blessers are the ones who infect young women with HIV.

The sad reality is many of these pregnancies are as a result of girls being taken advantage of by older men, often called “blessers” and these pregnancies very often result in girls dropping out of school and even being exposed to HIV/ Aids and STIs.
