BlueScope attempted to set up a cartel to fix prices of flat steel products in Australia.

The BlueScope spokesman said Steelhaven is a non-operational area outside of Port Kembla Steelworks.

BlueScope's Steve Shaw, group leader of capital development and engineering, said engineers and project management were the key skills he needed to deliver his work programmes.

During a panel discussion on projects, Dave Scott, General Manager at BlueScope reminded members that the organisation has hundreds of projects available to local businesses.

The BlueScope spokesperson said SafeWork NSW had also attended the site.

BlueScope is also undertaking a strategic review of its New Zealand operations, and said it was closely monitoring recent developments in New Zealand's industrial base.

BlueScope, last year, singled out the positive market conditions in North America when revealing the company’s profits had doubled over the financial year to $1.5 billion.

BLUESCOPE STL L/ADR (OTCMKTS:BLSFY) was upgraded by analysts at Citigroup Inc from a neutral rating to a buy rating.

Jason Ellis left BlueScope in 2017 and the company maintains his departure was not related to the cartel accusations.

Managing director Mark Vassella said Mr Trump’s tariffs and corporate tax cuts hugely benefited BlueScope’s North Star steel mill in the US state of Ohio, which makes 2 million tonnes of steel a year and employs about 400 American workers.

Separately, Citigroup upgraded BLUESCOPE STL L/ADR from a “neutral” rating to a “buy” rating in a research report on Thursday, June 13th.

The documents detail the ACCC's allegations that Mr Ellis and other senior BlueScope representatives made various attempts to induce competitors into price fixing agreements.

Scotland County Economic Development Corporation Director, Mark Ward, said Scotland’s increase was hard to explain, but said that the closure of Bluescope Steel may have played a small role.
