Camerata

A 2023 recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Ferguson can be heard live in concerts and festivals with groups including the Handel and Haydn Society, and as the music director of Camerata Pacifica Baroque.

The innovative project is a collaboration of musicians, artists, architects and others funded by Skipton Building Society, Arts Council England and the Tarn Moor Estate, which also support Skipton Camerata’s annual concert for schools.

The general public is invited to enjoy a free public performance by The Rivers School Conservatory’s newest musical ensemble Camerata Strings.

The parade took place on Nov. 17 this year with block parties, Santa’s workshop filled with crafts, cookies and photos with Santa at Cityplace and a performance by Camerata Nova, singing holiday classics and some of their own songs as well.

It is named after the Camerata, a spiritual retreat which was demolished in the 19th century and replaced by social housing.

It was written around 1597, largely under the inspiration of an elite circle of literate Florentine humanists who gathered as the " Camerata de' Bardi ".

The members of the Camerata considered that the "chorus" parts of Greek dramas were originally sung, and possibly even the entire text of all roles; opera was thus conceived as a way of "restoring" this situation.
