Campanile

The Campanile has left local authorities baffled by how a 96 year old structure could escape so easily.

Besides, who would want to live without seeing the Campanile every day?

Maybe it’s because the skyline of Doe Library and the Campanile have us feeling landlocked, or maybe it’s just because we’ve been listening to Chance the Rapper on repeat, but either way, Karl the Fog has us wishing we were in the Windy City.

The circular shape and great height (currently convert on the lowest side and convert m on the highest) of the campanile were unusual for their time, and the crowning belfry is stylistically distinct from the rest of the construction.

The nearby Campanile (partly designed by Giotto ) and the Baptistery buildings are also highlights.

The replacement bells were placed in the bell wall and the old ones put on display within the footprint of the destroyed Mission campanile ("bell tower").

The upper part of the campanile is from the 13th-century.
