Apple’s market share in China has dropped to 14% in Q2 2024, a decrease of two percentage points from the same period last year, according to data from Canalys.

The latest data comes amid declining consumer interest in smartphones, according to data from market analyst firm Canalys.

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo toppled Korean tech giant Samsung as the top smartphone brand in the Philippines from April to June of this year, according to analyst firm Canalys.

This "is a good initiative to gain more spending among these organisations that will increasingly offer a blend of online and offline course content," said analyst Matthew Ball at Canalys.

Canalys senior analyst Jason Low attributed Amazon’s strong showing to its recently introduced Echo Upgrade Program, which lets users trade in old Echo or non-Echo Bluetooth speakers for newer models at a discounted price.

Huawei cornered the lion's share of the China market in the July-September period, according to market research firm Canalys, leaving Apple towards the bottom of the pile.

Huawei has only 2% of the global laptop market according to research firm Canalys.

Despite the overall slowdown of the market, Huawei saw double-digit growth, the Canalys report said.

In the second quarter, Huawei to become the world's second-biggest smartphone vendor, according to Canalys and various other research firms.

This was based on shipping figures from research firms Counterpoint and Canalys, where it showed that Xiaomi had outshipped Samsung in Q4 2017, finally overtaking the Korean tech giant.
