Cantonments

It has shared broad modalities with state governments for a proposed separation of civilian areas in 58 cantonments across the country, with the move aimed at bringing uniformity in municipal laws governing these areas and adjoining municipal pockets.

The minister said this at the commissioning of an office complex as the headquarters for the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA) at Cantonments in Accra yesterday.

It comprises elected members, besides ex-officio and nominated members as per the Cantonments Act, 2006.

While this is prime property in most major cities, government sources estimate that only a very small part of the nearly 10,000 acres of encroached military land is in these cantonments.

Ghana International School (GIS), a private non-profit A-Level school founded in 1955 for children from ages 3–18, is located in Accra's Cantonments.

The British vacillated and disagreed and were beleaguered in their inadequate cantonments.
