Administrators PwC confirmed this week that a deal had been agreed with Carpetright's competitors Tapi Group which will see 54 stores retained.

Carpetright has announced a number of stores that will be closing as the company enters administration.

Carpetright previously filed a notice of intent to appoint administrators putting more than 1800 staff at risk.

Carpetright's brand, intellectual property, 54 of its stores and two warehouses were bought by rival Tapi weeks later.

Carpetright store employees in Bracknell have been made redundant with immediate effect after the business entered administration.

Colin said he felt “let down and disappointed” that no-one from Carpetright contacted customers like him after the firm announced its intention to appoint administrators earlier this month - something he wasn’t aware of at the time.

It was announced on Monday the flooring retailer Tapi had agreed to buy 54 Carpetright stores, two warehouses, the brand and its intellectual property.

Avanton now has three sites in Old Kent Road following the purchase of land at what is now known as the Ruby Triangle scheme and another plot formerly occupied by a Carpetright store.

If the CVA goes ahead, Carpetright would push through an equity issue of between £40 million and £60 million to fund plans to reboot the business and drive down debt.
