CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full-fibre infrastructure provider, has completed the primary build-out of its network in Inverness.

Foxhall Road, Dover Road and Britannia Road: April 3 to 7. Multi-way traffic signals due to CityFibre work.

Temporary (night-time) traffic signals on 3 April until 6 April during CityFibre installation works.

Temporary road closure on 12 May until 25 Mary during CityFibre installation works.

Since then, I have been pressing CityFibre, Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK), and ministers on the importance of adding thousands more premises locally to the contract.

The service is available now to thousands of homes, with Zen continuing to follow the CityFibre rollout across Derby.

The amended commercial terms agreed with CityFibre, for both the initial 12 towns and cities and additional locations, will enable Vodafone to make the Vodafone Gigafast Broadband service available in new locations and to many more customers.

Under the proposed deal with CityFibre, the Goldman-backed company will take full control of FibreNation, with TalkTalk receiving a cash payment and signing a long-term agreement to be a customer of the business.

Yet Virgin Media could begin to look vulnerable as rivals such as BT and Vodafone (with CityFibre) prepare to challenge its broadband lead with their own ultrafast lines and bundles of telecoms services.
