Benching Claypool in hopes of sparking a better effort is the Bears’ last move to salvage this before moving on altogether.

Chicago made a move to bolster their receiving corps during last season’s trade deadline when General Manager Ryan Poles traded a second-round draft pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for Claypool.

Claypool, despite the TD, is still a marginal wideout.

Coaches and teammates made no secret that Claypool is an emotional person and player, and they talked openly about how he needed to channel that positively.

It’d be prudent, really, to get a better blocking receiver on the field in Equanimeous St. Brown and give Claypool a wakeup call.

It’s still a shock to know Omar Khan got a second round pick out of Chase Claypool, who had no role and clearly worn out his welcome in Pittsburgh.

Nothing in 2022, especially post-Claypool, and very little this year except the occasional home run play to Austin and third down choice route to Robinson.
