Commanderies

Initially, Sun Quan mourned his brother's death so much that he could do nothing, but at Zhang Zhao 's behest, he dressed himself in military uniform and set out to visit the commanderies under his brother's control.

Several commanderies were combined to form a bailiwick headed by a Landkomtur.

Since they held no contiguous territory, they developed a three-tiered administrative system: holdings were combined into commanderies which were administered by a commander (Komtur).

The commanderies and counties that Wei forces went through were burned and slaughtered, and not even grass was left.

These were generally the names of commanderies used prior to the reorganization during the Tang, so that they became exclusively associated to clans as their common use had died out.
