Compas

An exhibition of a Photo of Gesner “Coupe Cloué” Henry with a short biography by the Minister of Culture and Communication as a prelude to the 69th anniversary of the Compas d’Haïti, in Port-au-Prince, on Wednesday July 24, 2024.

The event presented a wide array of Haitian genres, including compas, rasin, twoubadou, and jazz, as well as some of Haiti’s biggest bands, such as Tabou Combo, Magnum Band, and RAM.

An example of the impact of biased training data is the Correctional Offender Management Profiling for Alternative Sanctions software, or COMPAS for short.

Created by Tanya Compas, a youth worker and writer, the event aims to give around 35 young black individuals a space to celebrate with their “chosen family”.

In Wisconsin, a court upheld the use of the COMPAS algorithm to predict a defendant’s recidivism rate on the ground that, at the end of the day, the judge was the one making the decision.

The second, smaller dome sits directly over the centre of the transept crossing of the choir where the compas, an omphalos once thought to be the center of the world (associated to the site of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection), is situated.
