His Polish immigrant parents turned one corsetry shop in Melbourne into the clothing retail chain Sussan.

It was refreshing to see Gordon working without all the corsetry and crinolines, as on a drop waist silk sundress with bow straps, made from a mixed floral silk faille that was actually cut from the a fabric mill test swatch.

Tired of being unable to move without male help, and desirous of the independence afforded by bicycle-riding, they led the movement to ditch corsetry.

Lingerie and corsetry details were elegantly deployed by Catriona Wilson, who used layers and layers of delicate chiffon, silk and tulle in a lineup of pretty dresses and one lovely coat composed of multiple layers of sheer fabrics.

There were pristine suffragist tuxedo suits and sweeping, severe Grand Bal capes, and luckily very few overt visual puns, apart from some silly net masks over the models’ eyes and some tulle cage corsetry under it all.
