During Jennifer Crumbley's trial, prosecutors discussed a video of Ethan holding one of James Crumbley's firearms that was sent from the shooter's phone to one of his friends.

James Crumbley, the father of Ethan Crumbley, is scheduled to stand trial in March.

Prosecutors allege Crumbley, and her husband, James Crumbley, were negligent and played a role in the shooting that killed four students and injured seven other people — six students and a teacher.

The first parents to be held criminally liable in the U.S. were Jennifer and James Crumbley of Michigan, who were sentenced to 10 years in prison after their son Ethan Crumbley killed four students and injured seven others at Oxford High School in 2022.

Another MSU student, Emma Riddle, tweeted around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday that she was among the former Oxford students who had to evacuate the high school during Crumbley’s attack.

James and Jennifer Crumbley are charged with involuntary manslaughter.

King said he spent more than 20 hours across several meetings with Crumbley and reviewed his highly disturbing journal entries and texts.

After Judge Cheryl Matthews lifted a gag order that had prevented lawyers from speaking to reporters, Jennifer Crumbley’s attorney Shannon Smith declined to comment Thursday night.

Both parents face charges of involuntary manslaughter; James Crumbley, Ethan’s father, will be tried later.

Crumbley, accompanied by Ethan, bought a Sig Sauer 9 mm handgun over Thanksgiving weekend in 2021.

Crumbley pleaded guilty in 2022 to all 24 crimes he was charged with for the Oxford shooting, including four counts of first-degree murder, and is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Due to Ethan's newfound love of guns, Crumbley testified that she would threaten to stop taking him to the shooting range as punishment anytime he got bad grades.

Oxford High School counselor Shawn Hopkins testified he recommended the parents take Ethan out of school to get mental health treatment that day, but Jennifer Crumbley said they wouldn't be able to do so that day because they had work.

The deliberations could send Jennifer Crumbley to prison if she is convicted of contributing to the deaths of 4 Oxford High School students in 2021.
