Cunninghame North MSP Kenneth Gibson got a first-hand taste of a dog shock collar – and has called for a ban on the “cruel” devices.

Cunninghame North MSP Kenneth Gibson lodged a motion at Holyrood congratulating the youngsters at St Mary's Primary School on their first place at the Ayrshire Music Festival last month.

He stopped by to lend a hand to Cunninghame South candidate Mike Russell as he curried last minute favour with the Irvine voters.

Youngsters from Pennyburn Primary School’s pupil council visited Cunninghame House in October 2003 to meet education chief Peter McNamara and discuss their thoughts about school life.

Scottish National PartyRuth Maguire, who represents Cunninghame South, first received successful treatment for cervical cancer in 2021, but was recently told by doctors the disease has returned.

The parade, which will assemble at Cunninghame House Car Park (next to Marress House) from 5.30pm, will culminate with a light show against the Museum’s historic Linthouse building and entertainment alongside the Christmas evening market.

Its rectors included Robert Cunninghame Graham, who owned and sold slaves on his plantation in Jamaica in the 18th century.

In 1898, at the start of his writing career, he had written to his Scottish writer-politician friend Cunninghame Graham : "What makes mankind tragic is not that they are the victims of nature, it is that they are conscious of it.
