Last month, Ardern recieved her damehood from Prince William in a ceremony in the UK.

Not only has she pulled out of the Paris Olympics, where she was set to become Britain’s most-decorated female Olympian of all time, but her Damehood — which would have been all but guaranteed had she won another medal — has now been taken off the table.

Adored by A-list Americans such as Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow, Ralph & Russo made the skirt suit that Angelina Jolie wore to accept her honorary damehood from the Queen in 2014.

Earlier this year, Beard was awarded a damehood in the Queen’s birthday honours, capping off a year which also saw her co-host the BBC’s Civilisations series.

However, a source close to Ariana told The Sun that she turned down the damehood as she felt it was "too soon".

They were granted an honorary damehood and knighthood respectively while still American citizens, and converted them to substantive awards after they assumed British nationality, becoming Dame Marjorie and Sir Yehudi.
