After seeing limited playmaking at the position in 2022, the Steelers and GM Omar Khan went out in free agency and were aggressive, adding the likes of Cole Holcomb, Elandon Roberts and Kwon Alexander to try and shore up inside linebacker.

Focusing in on the new additions of Cole Holcomb, Elandon Roberts, and Kwon Alexander along with second-year Mark Robinson, they brought a tenacity and physicality missing from this unit last season.

Next is the fact that the Steelers have already signed two inside linebackers this offseason in Cole Holcomb and Elandon Roberts.

Pittsburgh completely redid its inside linebacker room, shuffling out Devin Bush, Robert Spillane, and Myles Jack to bring in Cole Holcomb, Elandon Roberts, and Tanner Muse.

That’s not the case this year, as Holcomb, Elandon Roberts and Kwon Alexander have all made an impact and helped the defense look a lot better at the second level.
