Elseworlds

Elseworlds was a DC Comics publishing imprint started in 1989 that presented stories set outside the DC Universe's main continuity.

Fans can expect sequels to popular series like Dark Knights of Steel and DC vs. Vampires in the upcoming Elseworlds releases.

However, they will be referred to as Elseworlds.

This extends to various Elseworlds and alternate continuity stories, most of which relegate the Last Martian to a plot device or cannon fodder.

Those movies, along with “Folie à Deux,” belong to their own universe called DC: Elseworlds, which means they are not beholden to Gunn and Safran’s vision for the future of DC.

This actually sounds like a great idea for an elseworlds/multiverse story.

If the HBO Max series was ever to be involved in some kind of Elseworlds story, which could happen due to its links to the Arrowverse and the DCEU, then this would be an interesting and fun story to explore.

Speaking of World's Finest, Elseworlds once offered a feminist twist on the world's favorite superheroes by depicting their female counterparts as the best, most heroes in the universe instead.

That practice got taken to new levels of frustration with the introduction of Ruby Rose's Batwoman during the Arrowverse "Elseworlds" crossover last year.

Thus, as Oliver Queen laments in “Elseworlds,” Batman is likely the Arrowverse’s first modern vigilante.

As I wrote when talking about the last “Elseworlds” teaser trailer, no matter what else is happening within the Arrowverse, or with its heroes, the crossovers are a time for fun.

The upcoming special, titled Elseworlds, is undoubtedly one of the most highly-anticipated TV events of the year - and for good reason.
