Ferryfield

By 1958, Ferryfield had become one of Britain's three busiest airports.

Following the opening of Ferryfield in mid-1954, Silver City initially split its operations between the new airport and Lympne.

However, it took almost another two years for the official opening ceremony to be performed at Ferryfield, which occurred on 5 April 1956.

In summer 1958, Silver City's "Ferryfield" base recorded more aircraft movements than any other UK airport.
