Friedrichstadt

In 1709, Berlin merged with the four cities of Cölln, Friedrichswerder, Friedrichstadt and Dorotheenstadt under the name Berlin, "Haupt- und Residenzstadt Berlin".

One writer of the time said that a stroll round Friedrichstadt was like walking round military barracks.

The first trip was the more extensive, taking him into what is now Germany, proceeding along the coast to Friedrichstadt and back again over several days.

With a seating capacity of 1,895 and a stage floor of convert, the Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin Mitte is the largest show palace in Europe.
