Gafford was with the Wizards at the time but was traded to Dallas ahead of the deadline.

Speaking before the game during a press conference introducing Gafford and Washington, Mavericks president of basketball operations and GM Nico Harrison said trading for them addressed the needs of the team.

The Mavs eventually came up short against the Celtics, but the team finally realized its potential with the absurdly talented back court of Dončić and Kyrie Irving after adding complimentary pieces in Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington.

Washington, who went to high school 30 miles north of Dallas in Frisco, Texas, checked in at the same time as Gafford.

Twice guard Daryl Macon found Gafford inside for dunks, the last with under a minute left that gave Arkansas a 65-63 lead.
