Eagles blocked Houston’s attempt to interview Douglas because they were still in the playoffs in January, and Houston didn’t have the time to wait, so they moved on Gaine.

Easterby was at the ring ceremony with Caserio on June 6 and, amazingly, Gaine was fired on June 7. Houston officially asked to interview Caserio on June 11.

Gaine served only a year as the Texans’ GM, and Houston went 11-5 with an AFC South title.

It’s tough to figure out what Gaine might have done wrong in that time.

The Texans formally requested permission to interview Caserio, just as they did in January 2018, when the Patriots denied the request and the Texans moved on to hire Gaine.

Gaine is the third general manager in franchise history.

Gaine signed a five-year contract and O’Brien was extended for four years.

Second, I'll be disappointed if the Texans' GM job goes to Gaine or Raye, and it's nothing personal with either guy.

The Texans made such a G.M. change this year when Brian Gaine was hired after Rick Smith went on leave and now they’ve made a slew of other changes.

They have two other third-round picks and a fourth-rounder, which Gaine believes will still give them a chance to add good players to the roster.

This is a huge week for Brian Gaine, as he goes shopping with one of the biggest bankrolls of salary cap space in the NFL, a top six or seven bankroll, for sure.
