Desperately wanting Gohan to release his full potential, Cell finally pushes him to the edge, and Gohan transforms into Super Saiyan 2. Cell is even more desperate and a sacrifice occurs, but to no avail.

We see Pan with Super Saiyan Gohan, her father and of course Videl's husband, on SS Son Gohan & Pan, Strong Father & Daughter.

As much as it's disliked, the Garlic Jr. Saga had one definite plus: the storyline instead focused on Krillin and Gohan, the former of whom was largely outclassed and irrelevant as went on.

Due to this, they’ve managed to retain a strong relationship throughout the series, with Gohan’s main outfit being inspired by Piccolo instead of Goku.

In the back, we can see Gohan with a blast in both hands and a familiar wish-granting dragon looms overhead in the sky.

Shenron obviously respects and reveres Piccolo, so there's a possibility that the eternal dragon would have refused to upgrade Krillin and Gohan.

There are also some intriguing pairings: Gohan will finally get a rematch against Frieza, while Goku and Vegeta will meet long before the final, in their second match.

The series develops further Goku's character as a father figure (with his son Gohan) as he fights many iconic antagonists, such as Freezer, Vegeta, and Piccolo.

This forces Gohan to fend for himself in an area filled with dangerous animals.

With the help of the other Z fighters, not to mention the bond between father and son, Goku and Gohan finally defeat Cell.

Young Trunks, like Gohan, was killed alongside almost everyone else when Kid Buu destroyed the Earth.

Also curious is the fact that Gohan and Videl have been missing from all of it thus far too.

And there’s a significant twist to the tale: the surge of power from Gohan’s Beast form is so immense that Goku, even from another universe, feels the tug of his son’s ki and decides to make a return to Earth.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero arc saw Goku and Vegeta finding out that not only was the Earth in trouble while the two of them had been training on Beerus' planet, but Gohan and Piccolo were able to save the day with new forms.
