Some have already gone so far as to think about where they would place the character's home and how they would interact with other narcissistic NPCs like 's Mother Gothel.

Gothel ends the movie dead but still somewhat loved and held onto.

Its powers are bequeathed to Rapunzel, unbeknown to the princess, so Gothel poses as her mother, imprisons her, and siphons its powers for herself, keeping Rapunzel ignorant of everything.

Like the finale where Gothel has literally stabbed and killed Eugene (talk about a twist that is earned and not just there for a subversion of stereotypes!) and Rapunzel wants to save him but then Eugene cuts off her hair.

Even despite knowing no one but Mother Gothel throughout her life, Rapunzel quickly finds out what love really means.
