For this year’s grantmaking, the Philanthropic Society will award up to $75,000 for the new “Move the Needle” category for high-priority needs in priorities in Joplin, Webb City and Carl Junction.

Gifts to the Duane and Edith Lawellin Legacy Fund for Southwest Missouri and the Cloyd Carlin Charitable Fund help increase the amount available for future rounds of the JRCF’s community grantmaking program.

The organization provides grantmaking three times per year, with this being the first grant cycle in 2023.

During the pandemic, he fought to double the foundation’s grantmaking to more than $1 billion.

Families can establish DAFs with a community foundation to invest their charitable assets, facilitate grantmaking and leverage the foundation’s insights into local needs.

The retreat work sessions included the following: a review of the community associates’ program, a discussion on the potential impact of the 2024 general election results, a discussion on how the BBCF work will look in 2025 and effective grantmaking.

Stevens’ role includes grantmaking, advocacy, community outreach, employee activism, and working with retail staff to implement companywide environmental campaigns and initiatives.

Started in 2009, the program was created to empower youth to address issues important to them by learning about and leading the grantmaking process.

Philanthropy West Virginia is the state’s leadership association serving grantmaking foundations, individual philanthropists, professional advisors, and corporate giving programs.
