Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army on Thursday rescued 30 travellers who were kidnapped in Manini Village along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road and escorted them to Udawa and Birnin Gwari respectively, while dislodging the bandits.

According to the Police, the suspects were responsible for the kidnap, killings, armed robberies of innocent commuters and travelers and villagers in villages and towns along Abuja- Kaduna –Birnin Gwari- Funtua – Zamfara state.

Armed bandits on Sunday evening attacked communities of Unguwar Dan-Baki, Sabon-Layi village in Birnin-Gwari local government area of Kaduna State, killing three people and abducting two nursing mothers.

Barely a week after search for arms operation at Kuriga village in Kaduna State by security operatives, armed bandits have stormed the village along Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna Road and killed five people, while 12 others sustained bullet wound.

He added that President Buhari had also approved the establishment of a new Battalion of the Nigerian Army and a Police Area Command in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, as part of measures to scale up security in response to the banditry affecting the area.

He made this known while raising a point of order on the floor of the Senate on the “incessant killings and kidnappings in Birnin Gwari and Chikun LGAs” in Kaduna.
