Hateley duly hogged the headlines and worryingly, there was some danger here that Dick Campbell might steal Ferguson’s thunder on his return to Gayfield almost thirty years on in the perhaps unlikely guise of manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Cheltenham manager Davies also expressed his delight at Hateley joining the squad.

Hateley makes the step up from the fourth tier to Cheltenham, after a near perfect season finishing second.

This would be Hateley’s only Broadway show, but her career has since thrived on London’s West End, including in a popular run of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat in the ‘90s and its revival in 2022.
