Also being sought by Mr Brutus is a declaration that Cabinet acted ultra vires on July 11 2024 when it instructed the acting Commissioner of Police Hicken to send him on annual leave due to allegations of involvement in financial crimes.

At the Guyana Police Force’s 185th Anniversary Awards Ceremony held at the Police Officers’ Mess Annex, Eve Leary, Georgetown, Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken reported substantial reductions in crime and traffic accidents so far for 2024.

While praising the force for its achievements over the past year, Commissioner Hicken emphasised the need for continued improvement, especially with the upcoming 2025 elections.
