Hess sold the refinery to Hovensa, which in turn sold it to Limetree Bay, which attempted several restarts of the plant — to disastrous ends.

One of the females who Matthew says she looks up to is her mother, who was a process operator before the previous owners, Hovensa, closed the refinery.

The Hovensa oil refinery produced convert, and closed down in February 2012.
