The awards, founded in 2015 by professional photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, also promote wildlife conservation – and this year’s competition supports Whitley Fund for Nature, a UK charity that helps fund conservationists around the world.

The competition, which is in partnership with rehoming charity Blue Cross, was started by the founders of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam.

Joynson’s main athletic event is swimming, and he trains every week for both this competition and for the Special Olympics.

Joynson-Hicks' successor as Financial Secretary to the Treasury was not in the Cabinet.
