It said Russia fired on the southern city of Kherson and its suburbs more than 60 times, killing one person and injuring seven others across the Kherson province.

The region of Kherson was struck 90 times with artillery, multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), mortars, tanks, and drones, killing one person and wounding three, according to Kherson Oblast Governor Yaroslav Yanushevych.

To the south, the Ukrainian military said Russian forces made preparations for an offensive in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, shelling dozens of towns and villages including the city of Kherson, causing civilian casualties.

And in southern Kherson region, partly controlled by Russian forces, a woman died in Russian shelling of an area outside the main Ukrainian-held city, also known as Kherson.

A 13-year-old boy was wounded in overnight shelling of Ukraine’s partially occupied southern Kherson province, said Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, spokesman for the Ukrainian administration of the province.

A 27-year-old woman and her nine-month-old baby are among those wounded in a Russian attack on the Kherson region in southern Ukraine, according to its governor, Oleksandr Prokudin.

Also Sunday, Gov. Oleksandr Prokudin said his Kherson region in Ukraine came under Russian artillery fire 27 times in the past 24 hours, killing one civilian.

Andriana Susak-Arekhta, a Ukrainian special forces weapons sergeant who was wounded by an anti-tank mine during a mission near Kherson last December, said the U.S. must also accelerate its training of F-16 pilots.
