Kampala — Having fallen on tough times on his professional stint in Morocco, Uganda Cranes forward Milton Karisa return to Kitende resembles something of a redemption attempt - and timely addition to his league title seeking Vipers.

Success on the continent has proved elusive for the Kitende-based side who were eliminated at the first stage of continental cup competitions after falling to Nigeria's Enyimba in 2016 and to South Africa's Platinum Stars in 2017.

Abraham Ndugwa's 46th minute goal was the difference as Vipers edged Sudanese giants El Merriekh 1-0 during the return leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende.
