Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais was appointed as the new governor of Maharashtra as President Droupadi Murmu accepted former governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari's resignation.

Koshyari has stated that none of his family members are associated with this institution, nor is anyone in the management.

It comes a day after the Maharashtra cabinet discussed the proposal of recommending to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari the names of 12 candidates for their nomination to the state Legislative Council from his quota.

Referring to a media report, the Sena MP claimed Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari was not in favour of the appointments of 12 MLCs and may not approve them till September.

Koshyari's actions on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, "culminating to swearing in on November 23 are textbook example of the governor acting at the behest of a political party in power at the Centre", it said.
