The storied magazine has abruptly fired CEO Ross Levinsohn, replacing him with Manoj Bhargava of 5-Hour Energy fame.

Levinsohn held various roles at media companies before his time at Arena and SI.

Levinsohn’s deputy there, Mickie Rosen, had worked with him at several earlier ventures.

Even before the results of the union vote were in, the guild was feeling its oats, and called Thursday for the resignation of Ross Levinsohn, the paper’s since Eddy Hartenstein left in 2014 after a six-year run.

In January, CEO and publisher Ross Levinsohn took a voluntary unpaid leave after that he had been a defendant in two sexual harassment lawsuits and had fostered “frat house” behavior at previous workplaces.

Levinsohn's venture firm Fuse Capital was an investor in True/Slant and he served on its board until it was sold to which adopted a similar model featuring paid staffers, unpaid contributors and those who were paying for exposure on the site.

NPR reported that Mr. Levinsohn called the allegations against him “lies” in a call to NPR’s chief executive, Jarl Mohn.

The group also said Tronc and its board should be held accountable for not properly vetting Levinsohn.

There's still no publisher — Ross Levinsohn remains on unpaid leave.

The results of the union vote came one day after Tronc announced it was investigating allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate workplace conduct by The Times’ publisher and chief executive, Ross Levinsohn, who joined the paper in August.

Tronc has not suspended Levinsohn.
