Ligand exchange A ligand exchange (also ligand substitution) is a type of chemical reaction in which a ligand in a compound is replaced by another.

Spectator ligand main A spectator ligand is a tightly coordinating polydentate ligand that does not participate in chemical reactions but removes active sites on a metal.
