Phaahla was at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital in Mdantsane, East London, on Thursday, where he met with Health MEC Nomakhosazana Meth and senior officials to discuss the state of the provincial health department.

The Human Rights Commission launched an investigation into the tragic death of three-year-old Unecebo Mboteni, who died on 18 April after falling into a pit toilet in the Eastern Cape’s Mdantsane township.

The other four players — George Matlou, Dillan Solomons, Mduduzi Mdantsane and Tebogo Potsane — are still recovering and will continue their rehabilitation in South Africa.

Unecebo Mboteni fell into the pit toilet at his daycare centre in Unit 6 in Mdantsane in April and died in hospital a day after he was admitted.
