Minora

Type 2 – referred to as is either partial or total removal of the clitoris and the labia minora (the inner folds of the vulva) with or without excision of the labia majora (the outer folds of skin of the vulva).

In this case, the clitoris, labia minora are excised and incisions made in the labia majora to create raw surfaces that are then either stitched together or kept in close contact until they seal and form a cover for the urethrae meatus.

Histology On the opposed surfaces of the labia minora are numerous sebaceous glands not associated with hair follicles.

It is closed by the labia minora in female virgins and in females who have never given birth ( nulliparae ), but may be exposed in females who have given birth (parous females).

Labia majora are commonly known as the outer lips, while labia minora (Latin for small lips) running alongside between them as the inner lips.

Labiaplasty is also sometimes sought for purely aesthetic reasons by women who have asymmetrical labia minora to correct the shape of the structures towards identical size.

Stimulation of the labia minora (inner lips), due to its external connection with the glans and hood, may have the same effect as direct clitoral stimulation.

The posterior ends (bottom) of the inner lips are usually joined across the middle line by a fold of skin, named the frenulum of labia minora or fourchette.

There is considerable variation in how much of the glans protrudes from the hood and how much is covered by it, ranging from completely covered to fully exposed, and tissue of the labia minora also encircles the base of the glans.

They state that the clitoral glans and labia minora have blood vessels that are dispersed within a fibrous matrix and have only a minimal amount of smooth muscle, or that the clitoral glans is "a midline, densely neural, non-erectile structure".

Traditionally, to avoid confusion with other lip-like structures of the body, the labia of female genitals were termed by anatomists in Latin as labia majora (or minora) pudendi.
