Occidentalis

Venus, also a N.C. State product, is a cross between all three, C. floridus, C. occidentalis and C. chinensis.

Certain species of ants have the power to drive certain wasps, such as Polybia occidentalis to extinction if they attack more than once and the wasps cannot keep up with rebuilding their nest.

P. occidentalis, P. velox, P. umbrosus, P. harpyia, and P. comptus are considered to be nomina dubia by Bennett (1994) and others who question their validity.
