Ovalis

A depression in the surface of the right atrium remains where the foramen ovale once walls, called the fossa ovalis.

At times, a parasite known as Lironeca ovalis is located in the gills.

This is connected indirectly with the eardrum via a mostly cartilaginous extracolumella and medially to the inner-ear spaces via a widened footplate in the fenestra ovalis.
